The cost is $5 per tree, nonrefundable, valid for 2009 only. The maximum is five permits per household. Permits may be bought at all Ranger District offices, Forest Headquarters in Vancouver and at several commercial vendor locations. Tree cutting is prohibited in designated wilderness areas, developed campgrounds, administrative sites, within 300 feet of streams, on private or state-owned lands within national forest boundaries, on the Mount St. Helens National Volcanic Monument and in other posted areas. Before setting out, call the Forest office nearest your destination for the latest in road and weather updates. Another FYI, I have purchased my permits the day of my outing for years now and have never had a problem getting them.
Also, topping trees, thats a no no ;D
