Jones Creek ORV Work PartyMeet at trail head at 9:00 am for sign up and instructions for the day. The Department of Natural Resources with the support of Jones Creek Trail Riders, Pistons Wild Motorsports and Dirt Church ATV Riding Group are organizing a trail work party at the Jones Creek Trailhead. The groups plan to work on and to improve the trails out of the Jones Creek Trailhead to make them ready for the summer riding season A second work party is planned for April 10th. Work to be done will include: Repair and harden two 100’ sections of trail. One on C-loop and one on B-loop using rock and block. Water bar construction and repair, a culvert installation on the C-loop and brushing of a .5 mile section of the C-loop. Volunteers will want to bring: gloves, boots, work clothes, rain gear, water, lunch and maybe their favorite shovel, metal rake or brushing tool. For more information about this or other work parties for the DNR motorized trails contact: Josh Riepe , DNR Trail Technician 360-280-5467 or email him at josh.riepe@dnr.wa.gov

Following are some other things we could use for this work party:
1) Donations of gravel for the ATV trails
2) 6x6 ATV's with Dump Beds - JCTRA is allowing us to use one of theirs - Douglas Glidden might be able to bring one - 2 will get the job done - 3 or 4 would be better
3) Large (in size & cc's) ATV's to pull ATV trailers (our little 500's just can't hold position with the weight on the hills) - these will work in lieu of extra 6x6's
4) We are also looking for a 10' section of 18" diameter culvert (metal or plastic - either will work)
"Excavator03" will be bringing his mini-excavator to help with the dirt work on this project and possibly a second project in the forest as time allows.
"Old Yellr" will be brining his John Deere 4x4 tractor to load up the 6x6's and trailers with gravel to send to the trail.
If possible, I would really like to see at least 20-25 people from Piston's Wild Members, Applicants and Guests for this work party. I know this is an ATV work party (not 4x4), but since we will not likely be working on 4x4 trails until late April or May - this is a great chance for us to spend a nice day in the forest and work together with our Yacolt Burn partners: DNR, JCTRA and Dirt Church.
ATTENDANCE LIST SO FAR: 1) Darel Crowder 2) Crystal Crowder 3) Dustin Braaten 4) Joey Verpoorten (+5) 5) Ryan Wells 6) Bill Hutchens 7) Brandon Hutchens 8) Brooke Hoehne 9) Douglas Glidden 10) Lance Schiedler 11) Margaret Schiedler 12) Jake Turpenin 13) Kenny811 14) Daryl 15) Jim Sullivan 16) Rick Dominiak (maybe) 17) Kira Dominiak

I'm hesitating on the poll.....I know I will be there but not sure if my wife can make it. I asked CMA....(christian motorcycle association) to join us this work party and I believe some are coming. They will be late because there monthly meeting is the same morning. I expect about 5 more people...and that's a guess. I know my dad will show up after the meeting.
Question: is there going to be someone at the staging area to let them know whats going on and where they can help when they get there?

Hey Everyone,
Thank you for the replies - we could still use a few more people for this work party if you are available.
We could always use some post hole diggers (tools and operators) as well for this project.
Margaret will be cooking up some hot dogs for lunch on Saturday and will also be bringing chips. I will throw together a cooler with sodas and water as well.
Joey - yes there will be people down at the Jones Creek Trailhead most of the day and will be able to direct folks to the work area.
We will be hardening a 100 foot section of trail, building a fence and installing 2 culverts (those are just Piston's Wild responsibilities for this work party).
JCTRA also has a 100 foot section of trail to work on and Dirt Church will be assisting where needed and picking up garbage.
Pro-Caliber Longview will be loaning us the use of a Polaris 6x6 and a Kawasaki (?) Mule to help with this project (Thanks to Douglas Glidden) and JCTRA will be loaning us one of their 6x6's as well to help haul gravel to the trail section.
I look forward to seeing everyone there - even if you only have a few hours to give - every little bit helps...
Thanks in advance,
Crystal

Well I thought I was going to make it sorry Crystal. I did enter myself in the poll so please take one away if your using that for a count. I'm still not feeling well and probably shouldn't be out in the woods until I'm feeling 100%. I have missed to much work this week as it is, and it being my new job i can't chance it. I'm really sorry. I sure we will have enough people that can make it to get the job done. I just really wish I could be there. Thanks!!!!

WOW!!! Did we work out butts off today. It was a great day in the woods, just the most beautiful weather a person could ask for. Put in about 8+ hours working and another couple bull......well you know. I had fun despite my ribs killing me. Hopefully I didn't screw them up again, I'll have to wait till the pain killers ware off to find out LOL. I had a blast though driving the 6x6's with the rock. Watching "old faithful" come out of the new atv's gas tank.....you just had to be there . Never before seen in my years of ATVing. Gas tank spewed ALL and I mean all its gas out when Bill Hutchens took the cap off. Imagine 3 gallons or so of gas shoooooting out of the tank to about 6 or so feet for a few seconds. Thats about the only un-prepared exciting moment there was, and no one was hurt and the atv was cooled down from sitting a while, thank goodness. Kayla and I had a blast with everyone, and am glad we could help!
