It's not yet officially a go, but it looks pretty close. Close enough that I am going to pass along the flyer. The Paisley 400 These guys (Now officially known as CODRA) have been working on making this race happen for some time. Paisley is a small town in South Central Oregon, and in addition to just being cool, or being the longest desert race in Oregon History, it's all for a good cause as well. All proceeds and donations will go directly to the town of Paisley. I'll post up more details once I get them. This is going to be a pretty big deal and should prove to be an epic race. 4 laps around the 100 mile track.

Well, looks like the flyers may need a little modifying Mark Weyhrich just schooled / informed me that this actually only ties for the longest race. Back in the 70's his dad put on a race in Millican Valley the Harvest 400. how about tied for the longest. My dad was the first person to sanction off-road car/truck races in Oregon. He founded OORRA in the 1970's and continued promoting until about 1984. Most of the races were in the Millican Valley area and included an event called the Harvest 400. It was run in the fall and got brutally cold.
He also promoted a race in Paisley; the Paisley 300, I believe it was called. It was a pretty good turnout because VORRA put it on their schedule as a points race.
It is great to see someone taking advantage of all the desert we have up here. Now theres talk about tacking on a few extra miles to truly make this the longest run, but not sure if it actually going to happen. Either way, it's cool to see desert racing making a comeback here in the NW. Entry Fee's will be posted to CODRA site today www.codra-racing.com There should be some really good attendance for this race. Quite a few folks have been watching this thing develop and have committed to making this race. I'm pretty excited. Pistol Pete will be bringing his mullet, his #2 3 seater Trophy Truck, and two trophy lites. For those with a few extra grand in there pockets he will rent out a fully prepped fueled and ready to go truck or the third seat in the TT. Not sure what he will charge for Paisley, but for the Baja 1000 I think it was 5K to sit in the third seat. Sure seems spendy to me, but so far I haven't seen anyone complain that they didn't get there moneys worth. He doesn't seem to hold back because the third seat is full. It's also sounding like some of the Ultra 4400 (King of the Hammers) trucks may be making this as well. Most of the people who race at the Goldendale races will make this one as well... so yeah.... quite a few competitors lining up. If anyone is thinking of competing, don't worry to much about what class you fall into. Much like the Goldendale races the deal here is to just get this race started so it can grow. Basically if there are three similar vehicles they will create a class.

There is some good free camping couple of miles west of Paisley. Renee & me always make an annual stop there to camp.

I ran the Harvest 400 back then and brutally cold is a under statement. One year it was -20. I got froze bite on my fingers, toes and my eyes. Pretty scarry deal. I was glad when the car broke and we could call it a night. That was the only time I was ever glad to see a early end to any race. It's good to see this type of racing coming back to Oregon. PS: Say hi to Mark W. from the LaPlante race team....

Maybe this will be the event that we finally meet each other at? hahahaha Things are a bit hectic right now, but if you need any extra hands getting VW ready shoot me a PM. JH
