It was pretty awesome seeing how many people were there pitching in. We met some really nice people today. At least our ford didn't lose it's transmission too. Bummer for those guys. By the time we left it felt like one of the rear brakes was grabbing though. We went shimmy shimmy all the way home. haha. It got a few pretty good new scratches too. ;D There was a pile of roofing back by the tire piles up the powerline road. It didn't look like much until we started pulling it out. It just about filled up the bed of the truck. Ryan went tire fishing with a tow strap/hook....he caught a nice one in the water up there. It was kinda fun watching them get the boats into the dumpster.

Nice Job Crystal and Piston's Wild. That was one of the best run volunteer events I've ever been to. I was glad to be able to do my small part, thanks for the opportunity.
Post up when you plan on going to recover some of the other hulks, And I'll be glad to come up, I hope to have my Ford running before next weekend (it's darn tough to find magnesium TIG filler, it should be dropped off tomorrow, though!).
IF it matters, Sundays work best for me. If we can wrangle permission, I can go out with some of my friends, and do the work in the name of PW and Sore4x4.

Thanks to ALL that helped out. And even a BIGGER THANKS to those people that were not even connected with any clubs. We would love to have people like you in our club any day. Thanks again. It was a awesome day for cleanup. And I just want to put out a GREAT BIG THANKS to All of the DNR workers that had NO problem with getting down and dirty with the rest of us. That has not always been that way before. THANKS GUYS. It's nice to see you guys help out. And THANKS also to the couple of Jones Creek guys that came out. Here are a bunch of pictures from the day. s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-26-09%20Clean%20Up%20The%20Burn/?start=allAll I was wondering if anyone knows the guy with the black Nissan crew cab, he was going to give me a Hi-Lift jack that he didn't want. Was just wondering. Thanks Again Bill ( Red Tj with snorkel and was taking pictures)

I'd like to echo Bill's thanks as well. Thanks to everyone who showed up, the other clubs, the individuals, the people who just happend to be passing through and stopped to help, the sponsiors for making this possible, DNR for letting us have such a fun event, and to all of the Pistons Wild members who worked many hours making an un fun task become such a fun event. It sucks we have to do this, but I couldn't think of a better group to do it with. Hopefully some day we wont have to do this, but until then, I'll be there every year. I have to say, I was really impressed by the turn out, and even more impressed with the way everyone showed up to work. Made the day go quick and was very much appreciated by all.
Nice job folks!! Nice job!

I want to thank everyone that showed up to help no matter if they were with a club or not. I was very impressed with the turnout from all the clubs as well nice job guys.
I also wanted to thank some great new friends of mine from the jeep forum way to come through Moose and Shantasticzj and her hubby Ryan. I hear Ryan and Bill Bill are quite the tire fishermen with winch hooks. They both caught some nice ones out of a pond up near the powerlines. Way to go.
It was nice to meet you Shananry even if it was only for a moment while I was parking the big truck and trailer.
Thank you Woody's for the Krispy Creme doughnuts in the morning for that jump start sugar rush to get everyone going.
Thank you to all of my fellow members of Pistonswild who came out with their game faces on ready to haul some serious trash out of the woods. Also our members at "Base Camp" slaving over a hot BBQ to make sure we all had some great eats when we got back from our trash hunt.
I for one was very impressed with the turnout thank you to all who cross posted and promoted this event all over the web.
We did have some carnage for the day I believe we lost 2 transmissions with a third that was not happy but still mobile. We had one jeep with some rear u-joints that decided it was time to retire. He I hope made it home on front wheel drive. He must have because his post is before mine.
A big "THANK YOU" to Les Schwab Tire Centers for taking all those tires and wheels that were gathered from the woods. Also Thank you to Waste Connections for the 40 yd drop box and waiving the disposal fees for it. Way to go.
Thanks to all for a great event. It's a great feeling to know that others care so much for the woods as we all do.

WOW !! What a Great Day in the Yacolt Burn. The Clean Up the Burn event was a huge success ! I have to say I was a little worried.. didn't seem to have the pre event chatter that last year had.. But, Wow was I wrong in that thought. 2 years ago... 9 people. Last year 75 registered volunteers.. This Year 105 Registered Volunteers plus several who did not register. Amazing. Here is a link to the photobucket slide show.. Among the notable items... two boats, a Cherokee, a pickup cab. a complete living room set, a huge amount of construction garbage, and Hundreds of tires. s731.photobucket.com/albums/ww312/pistonswild/2009%20Events/9-26-09%20Clean%20Up%20The%20Burn/?albumview=slideshowOf the volunteers.... we had 17 groups represented. Poorboy offroad, Trailbreakers, North American XJ Assoc., Dirty 13, Sore 4x4, Dirt Church, Sand Lake Duners, Woody's 4x4, Horny 4 Wheelers, Mud Puppies, Vancouver 4 Wheelers, Oregon Air Nat. Gaurd, Pistons Wild, Jones Creek Trail Riders, Rumble Goat Racing, Broke Bastards, and Dept of Natural Resources. Also sold about $1500 in T Shirts.. All going to the Trail Fund... un official total in the Pistons Wild Trail Fund is around $3000. ! It was something to see the side of the road lined with volunteers rigs as far as you could see. Thanks again to the sponsors of the event. Woody's for the Donuts, PNW4x4 Association for Buying Lunch, Waste Management for the Dumpster and Paying the Dump Fees, Sun Belt Rentals for the Fork Lift, Les Schwab Tires of Clark County for taking the tires ( Greatly Appreciated ), and others I am surely forgetting. This really helps in the Trail Building Relationship that is needed for the Trail System that is about to be started. AWSOME ! Looking forward to continueing this progress... First with the 4x4 Cruise in At Woody's 4x4 on Sunday October 4th,, Then with the actual trail building scheduled to start in November ! Sincerely Submitted,,, Dave.

We forgot to thank those that left the mess so we could all have a good time.......though I used lots of four letter words as nouns, adjectives, and verbs to describe them..... It blows my mind how people can do such a thing. On a lighter note I would also like to thank Everyone involved with this huge task from simply telling a friend, to the guy at Les Schwab today dismounting those muddy rims from the junk tires. I cant believe I have missed out on this stuff all these years, and I cant wait to do next years too! I didn't take many photos since I noticed others taking them, this way I could enjoy getting my hands dirty and smelling like I rolled in a dead animal........only a few of us know that story, so if I smelled like that its for a good reason.....mind you we never found the cause of the smell Now for the few photos! Doug set up to provide the first winch line of two to pull it up the hill. We had a second line with JD's rig later to swing the cab around to the road since there was no room in front of Doug's rig to put the truck cab. Here's the junk cab that we dragged up the hill. Jessica even got to run the winch on JD's rig, she loved it! In all its glory! This was about 40-60 min later. We fought a few things with the attachment devices....like chain....hooks etc. Yeah this tire was stuck like crazy between two boulders, so out came the chain! Jeep one Tire zero. This is where one of the Ford transmissions took a dive so we were dead in the water till we could get a tow rig for the trailer. Ryan had to pull the drive line since it was an auto trans. Luckily we were able to coast it almost all the way back since it was down hill. Then the little blue mountain goat pulled the rest of the way. A great day in Gods Beautiful country with good people! He also provided us with some of the best weather we could ask for!

Brandy at the Reflector just called, bet the event is in next week. I apologize in advance if she quotes me, I tried to get her to call Crystal. If she uses my name, I'll buy dessert at the meeting. It's the rule here at work.
